So the New Year is nearly upon us and most people have thought of their new years resolutions. My main new years resolution is to start updating my blog more. Over the last year it has been very hit and miss so i'm starting a fresh all over again.
I really enjoyed entering all the advent competitions this year and although there wasn't a day that I managed to enter them all ( i'm not superwoman) I still managed quite a good few wins. * Five 12" metal letters - M for my daughter - C for my son - H & C for me and my partner chris * Wooden letters spelling snow hand decorated and a little bag of fake snow to scatter around. * A lego friends yacht which i was going to give to my niece for Christmas but it still hasn't arrived. * A beauty bundle which fit nicely into my daughters stocking. * 24 mini nail varnishes which I gifted another niece * A HP Sprocket which I have put away for my daughters birthday because she had far to much already for christmas * And a lovely sparkly bobble hat which my daughter also ended up getting. So in total I ended up saving myself about £400 this Christmas!!

So it's the beginning of September and that can only mean one thing.... the kids are back to school!!! Yay freedom lol. I always enjoy the first four weeks of having them at home and being able to take them out on days out and then the last two weeks drag. The fighting and "i'm bored mum" really begin to grate. So I was definitely one of the mums doing a little dance at the school gate. My eldest Mia has just started secondary school. How scary! I am a mixture of excited for her and worried because I know what I used to get up too. Plus it makes me feel extremely old. She is having a great time though and I am super proud of both her and my son Connor who went into year 4 this year. So it has been a while since a last posted around 3 months and that is because I was without a laptop and keeping my blog updated without one was a nightmare to say the least. Although I was slacking on the blogging front I was still doing my best to enter competitions although I did miss out on a good few because Rafflecopter and Gleam weren't an option.
I did have a few wins starting with the one that saved my bacon £100 from the National Lottery Facebook page. I used it to go towards the school uniform. As you all know it can be really expensive to kit them out so it came just at the right time. No one can say my hobby isn't profitable lol I also had a lovely little win for the Interior Shed Facebook page (picture below). Another giveaway I entered was on the H Samuel Instagram page for some Tommy Hilfiger jewellery and that was a further win for me. When it arrived I was stunned. It was a lovely bangle and a pair of studs. My daughter also caught sight of the bangle and begged me for it so naturally I said no ..... and then put it away for her for Christmas. I am determined to try and win as much as I can for Christmas this year so watch out for the new page Winning Christmas that is coming soon. Hi everyone I am without a laptop at the moment so you will have to bare with me attempting to do this on my mobile phone. I have had some lovely wins lately. My winning streak started off with a couple of books which always go down well with me as anyone that knows me knows I am a bookworm. I received The Secret Fountain by Victoria Fox without a clue where it had come from. This is one of the perks of comping you receive nice little surprises in the post every now and again. Because I enter 100's of competitions a week sometimes I don't even remember entering the competition. This was shortly followed by Mersey Girl by June Francis which I won on the saga Facebook page. I then went on to win a water bottle on the ion8 Facebook page for may the 4th be with you which my daughter has stolen off me for school, followed by an anti snore pillow from the sleep council Facebook page which I am still waiting for. I think this will be my partners favourite thing I have won so far because much to my dismay I do snore so fingers crossed that's the answer to all my problems 😂. The last thing I have won and my favourite is a Fitbit Charge 2. I have been seeing Fitbits everywhere for months and had no interest in them what so ever. I thought I would enter a competition for one over on the RealBuzz Twitter page thinking that my partner who goes to the gym might have some use for it and I won! So when it arrived I thought I would give it a go before passing it on and it's brilliant. You can keep track of things like exercise, calorie intake, how much water you drink, heart rate and even how much time you spend in R.E.M. Sleep, light sleep or deep sleep a night. There is no way Chris will be getting his hands on this. I'm a lot more active than I ever thought I was. Yesterday I managed to clock up 16,583 steps. It is definitely encouraging me to stay fit and most importantly budge a few extra pounds. Last time I posted I had got 4 chickens for Easter.... well fast forward to now and we have 14!!! Yes you probably think I am mad but it's the best thing i have done for a while. We have fenced off the whole end of our garden and now have a little chicken village as my neighbour Nancy calls it. The kids love them and we get anywhere up to 13 eggs a day. My daughter even gets herself up at 6am every morning to let them out so it's teaching her loads of responsibility. Another new addition to our garden is this 10ft swimming pool it gives the kids hours of fun and we bought it for only £30 on Amazon! What a bargain. Here's the link if you fancy grabbing one for yourself -
10ft Instant Garden Pool - Easy Setup Garden Inflatable Swimming Pool (round) - 10ft Pool By ThinkGizmos Easter has come and gone and it wasn't very successful on the competition front. Not a single win. To be fair though I haven't been entering as many what with the kids being off school for two weeks. Now that routine has resumed I will be entering competitions with a vengeance so watch this space! We decided to do something different for Easter this year. Along with the normal Easter eggs for the kids we visited Shake Express and indulged in some Oreo and Peanut Butter Cup Milkshakes. They were amazing! They have so many unique choices that I haven't seen anywhere else from Blackjacks to Cheesecake shakes. Although the shop is on the small side and there is no where to sit and enjoy them as the shop fills up pretty fast I would definitely say they are worth a visit if your in the area. You can find them at 112 High St, Braintree, CM7 1JZ . We also decided that as a treat for all of us this Easter there would be four new additions to the household. Mrs Potts, Mrs Miggins, Henrietta and Harrietti the chickens. They all have their own unique personalities and although I shouldn't have a favourite I do. Mrs Miggins is the bravest little chicken I know she chases other birds out of the garden and has no problem relaxing with my two dogs in the sunshine. It's great having them running around and the kids love them. I can't wait to be able to collect their eggs in the morning for breakfast once they have properly settled in and for the kids to be able to see the chicks that we plan on having next year. They are a great little investment and not expensive to keep at all. Hoping for more wins soon. Until then good luck all :)
So since I last posted I haven't received any prizes to share with you, but that's not so surprising considering I have been concentrating on setting up a You Tube channel that will be linked to my blog. So far I have only posted my welcome video, but you will be the first to know when I have something for you to look at. So nerve wracking but exciting all at the same time!

It was British Science Week last week and I was lucky enough to win Brainstorm's Toy Rocket Projector and Room Guard. My son was over the moon (no pun intended). When it arrived we set it up and couldn't wait for night to come to test it out so there we were sitting in the hall cupboard with the door shut projecting images of space onto the ceiling when my partner arrived home to find all three of us squished into the cupboard.
It came with three projector discs so there was plenty to keep us occupied. Neither of my children have shown much interest in learning anything about space, but since this arrived they have had so many questions and can't get enough of the magicial scenes it creates. Not only is it educational for them it also has a room guard feature. When someone enters the room it lights up and makes noises. My son loves this but I love it even more. No more midnight escapades for my son, because as soon as he gets up I am alerted and he is sent straight back off to bed. If you are interested in checking one of these out for your kids I have had a quick browse and found it for sale here on Amazon. Just follow the link below- I was also lucky enough to receive a taste test kit for Rowntree's Fruit Pastilles. I can't resist a sweet treat so I was pleasantly surprised to find them in my post pile. Me and my daughter Mia tucked into them and we give them a fruity thumbs up. I am still waiting on one more prize that I can hopefully update you on next week. Until then have fun entering competitions and good luck! I logged in to check my emails and there was a message from DHL telling me my delivery was on it's way today. Surely this must be a mistake I thought. I haven't ordered anything or won anything that I knew of. As you can imagine I was on tenderhooks all day waiting for the delivery van to arrive. After many hours of waiting it finally turned up and I had received a lovely wicker basket filled with Cook Italian products. Me and my family love Italian food so I knew it wouldn't go to waste. The kids couldn't wait to get stuck in so went went to the shop and picked some pizza toppings. We hadn't made pizzas together before so it was an experience. Mainly fun and very messy! My daughter Mia picked a combo of pineapple and pepperoni and my son Connor went for tuna. They turned out brilliantly and tasted so yummy. We still have another pizza kit left and lots of pasta. We will definitely be doing this again. You don't have to win massive prizes to have lots of fun with it. It definitely made our day. I have had a few more wins since I last posted I look forward to updating you all soon. Happy Comping!
Finally my KitKat prize has arrived! Have to say this is one KitKat that I definitely won't be eating. I will just have to make sure I keep it hidden from little fingers.
When I woke up this morning I must have gotten out of the wrong side of the bed because everything was going wrong and I was in a foul mood. I eventually decided to check my Facebook account and found out that I was a winner! I can't wait to receive my shoes from Louis Blu. It cheered me up no end. Speaking of winning things has anyone been playing on the app called Snatch? For those of you that haven't got a clue what I am talking about it's an app game that you can download to your phone or tablet where you can collect parcels while you are walking around. Pretty much the same as you would collect Pokemon on the Pokemon Go app. Once you have collected your parcels it takes 6 hours to reveal what is inside. In the mean time you have to defend them against people that are trying to snatch them from you. You can win coins and diamonds that can be used to purchase tools to assist you on the app along with other things such as real money prizes, PlayStation 4 pro, Nando's Vouchers and so much more. If you fancy giving it a go here is my referral link http://invite.snatchhq.com/T77RLN So far I have managed to win - £5 PrezzyBox voucher Digital Camera World Magazine Couple of £1 prizes 50% off Adele Huxley Romance Collection 2 month Now Tv Entertainment Pass Let me know what you win :) So last week it was world book day and Mia and Connor had lots of fun dressing up as harry potter and the autumn fairy from the flower fairies book. Connor was happy with his light up broomstick and spell casting wand and Mia wanted something that no one else would be so we came up with the Autumn fairy. I have been trying to be a bit more creative lately and decided to make Mia's costume myself and all it cost was £4 for some glue, fake leaves, gold glitter and plain hair clips. Bargain! It was definitely worth while as she won best dressed at school. She was super proud to have won a competition just like me :)
That wasn't the end of the winning streak in our house. I got a surprise parcel addressed to my son which was a set of four Spider-Man puzzles and later on in the day a special delivery from warner bros. A huge Scooby Doo canvas, party supplies, costume and lots of other Scooby Doo goodies. I wasn't aware that either of these packages would be arriving. There's nothing like a comping surprise! We entered both these competitions in children's magazines so if you buy magazines for your little ones don't forget to check them for competitions. It could be your turn for a win next time. |
